JOURNALISM PROGRAMME

PROGRAMME SYNOPSIS

This programme introduces students to the responsibilities and role of the reporting in both print and electronic media. Basic news-gathering, decision-making, oratorical and writing skills are developed.

AIM

To build a working knowledge of structured, balanced, accurate and effective news reporting and to develop professional attitudes and skills which apply across disciplines.  Through this workshop, students will be taught how to identify the key terms e.g. the different sections of a newspaper, how to write catchy headlines, how to gather information via Interviews, research and keen listening, oratorical and observational skills. 

At the end of the programme, students will be able to edit articles for logic, language and length and make sound decisions by applying ethical journalistic principles as well as a better understanding of how they can conceptualize, write and put together a 4-page school newspaper.
